You are not the only one trying to stand out of the crowd, so are thousand other individuals. So how exactly you would stand off the crowd? Best way is to find something totally niche altogether.

Most of the good and remarkable ideas are criticised and resisted by people until it becomes a success and this is when everyone wants to be part of it.
Put the hours in:
How true, No Gains without Pains. Unless you are prepared to put in the hours and dedication and commitment you won't see success. There is no such thing as overnight success.
You are responsible for your own experience:
No one cares enough to tell you whether or not what you are doing is worthwhile. You have to decide and held yourself responsible for what you decide to do.
Everyone is born creative, everyone is given a box of crayons in kindergarten:
Why do you stop being creative when you grow up? Most of us despite being creative enough look for excuses for not coming up or working towards something interesting and original.
Keep your day job:
It does not help to quit your day job in an attempt to prove or be successful in pursuing your creative dream. It almost certainly put you under a lot of stress and likely to fail in your dream if you do not have a passive source of income.
Everybody has their own private Mount Everest they were put in this earth to climb:
Whether it is to be the top sales man in your company or being a successful parent, whatever it is at least make an attempt to climb. Sadly if you don't have your Everest, what are you doing reading this for?
World is changing.
Failing to adapt is failing to survive. Don't get hung up on what worked for you all this time, it is bound to change and if you are not abreast with change you might have no future.
